Phew, I'm so relieved the GP papers are over, and studying GP for the sake of exam is done for good. Thanks to those who smsed me well wishes. That was very nice of you guys =D
I thought I wrote 7 paras only to realise it's actually 6. Hah. Nevertheless I felt damn proud after completing the essay, partly because it's the longest I've ever written at nearly 1000 words. And I think it's also the most insightful among all the previous ones. But I kind of feel that some points raised were rather irrelevant. My god?...
"Does modern technology always improve the quality of people's lives?"
1) Health. supposed to be good with biomed. but on the other hand one cannot dismiss the reality of drug abuse of heroine and stuff + how subutex was supposedly a remedy.
2)Internet giving rise to freedom of choice + efficiency of information flow and easy transaction of goods and services which inevitably results in the prospering of industries like that of pornography which pollutes immature minds. Bad for personal development and also creating bad image for female and distorts the true purpose and beauty of intercourse.
3)Weapons. Cold War nuclear arms race.
4)Modern tech in itself is already a ticking time bomb. eg. chenobyl explosion due to human error + global warming due to irresponsible use of tech. (But ET, I did get influenced by those gory people.. "bad habits+high tech=extreme consequences" okie hor?)
5)tech can't always improve quality of lives largely due to inaccessibility as a result of inequity, purposeful blockage of information by dictatorial administrations and also high cost of tech eg forest burning as a cheaper means to do it.
